Is there a difference between sketch paper and gouache paper?

There is a difference.

The nature of the paper is different.

1. The roughness of the front and back sides of the sketch paper is different, the front side is rougher, and the back side is more delicate.

2. There are dot-shaped pits on the surface of the gouache paper, and the concave side of the dot is the front side. Gouache paper has different colors for background.

Sketching is usually done on special sketching paper. When choosing sketching paper, pay attention to the paper's firmness, smoothness, wear resistance, fine texture, no hair or wrinkle, and easy modification.

Such as sketch paper, lead drawing paper, and paper that is too thick, too thin, and too smooth are not suitable for pencil drawing.
